What has my profession taught me so far?

May is a Better Hearing and Speech Month. I never miss this opportunity to boast about my profession and to fondly tell my friends how much I enjoy being a speech language pathologist. My profession provides me with my basic necessities like earning bread and butter, work satisfaction and drive to seek for higher goals. I was thinking if these are the only things that keep me passionate about my work? The answer is this is not it; my work gives me deeper insights. It is a continuous process. Below are only few things I felt like sharing which it has taught me:  1) One has many more powers and much more potential than one can think- While learning to be a speech language pathologist, during the process of training I discovered many things about myself which I never knew I possessed. You might be an introvert or an extrovert, you have that ability to reach out to others. If you challenge yourself, you might find out that you have more patience within you than you think. Fitting in

We learn in school that "human is a social animal." There is no doubt that humans are social animals indeed. We always want to be around some one. It can be our family, friends, relatives, special friend or just random social media connections. Even the introvert people have at least that one best friend or at least that one place where he/she wants to speak his/her heart out. It can be an imaginary or spiritual connection but it is hard to find a human who needs no connections at all.  If we look around or look within ourselves, this fact is easy to confirm, Though, there is something more to this natural instinct as per my observations. We all tend to create our own social groups. One nice thing about this is, because of this tendency we have our families, but we want to go further and try and make more groups. We try to find stereotypes as per our comfort zones and create our own groups like our casts, religions, people speaking same languages, countries, states, mal...

Peace

Many people  like leaders, philosophers, spiritual guru's etc. in the world are talking about peace since many years. Now a days many people tell us that peace is our ultimate goal. I heard from some one recently that peace is not ultimate. It is just a basic necessity. How true that is, I thought! When we look at the dictionary, the meaning of peace is freedom from disturbance, quiet and tranquility. It is truly so important!  For any task, freedom from disturbance is very necessary. If one does not have this freedom, it is not possible to carry any task effectively. It is a basic necessity to have peace of mind to start anything or even to  have an idea to start anything.  If peace has become our ultimate goal in life and if we are no more considering it as the basic necessity how unfortunate this is!  It looks like instead of working on having our basic necessity in place, we are working hard on destroying it. From family level to community ...
