What can a mother do?

Today you are still little
you still look at me 
whether you are happy or sad
but this will change one day
you will soon do things your way
who knows if you will love me 
as much as do now
life is so unpredictable 
but what can a mother do? 
All she knows is to love you all along
and let you know that 
her heart is the place
where you always belong

Now you are learning 
all good and kind things
but you will face this big harsh world
and who knows 
what will you face? 
Now I am here to protect 
and stand with you
one day you will be by yourself
who knows if you will get any help
but what can a mother do?

Things will change around you
but one thing  is always for sure
the memories of your childhood
are kept here safe and pure
